Statement about your relation with Yamaha or your instrument:
I started playing on Yamaha marimbas a few years ago, growing a fondness for their deep and clear sound.
How does your instrument help you in your daily life as an artist?
The instrument allows me to express my inner world and connect with audiences, be it through performances of marimba literature or making my own arrangements.
How would you characterise your instrument?
The marimba is a grand instrument with a magical, even mystical, sound. The physicality and fluidity required to play it elevate the player, making them and the mallets dance around the instrument.
Who was your most influential teacher and is there any advice which you still follow?
I've had many very influential teachers, the most influential though is Anders Kann Elten, my teacher at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.
His most influential piece of advice has been to always strive to move the audiences I play to, no matter what.
Advice for a young musician:
Stay open to new ideas and challenges. Every experience will make you grow if you choose to learn from them.
